Ezequiel Carrera, outfielder, first signed with the New York Mets in April, 2005. He played in the Mets' minor league system from 2005 through 2008, before being traded to the Seattle Mariners in December, 2008.
After a year and a half with the Mariners, playing only in the minor leagues, Carrera was traded to the Cleveland Indians in June, 2010. He continued to play in the minors through part of 2011 and 2012. He joined the Indians for 68 games in 2011 and 48 games the following season.
On April 2, 2013, Carrera was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies but he lasted only a month with them before returning to the Indians. In 2013, he played in 13 games with the Phillies and just 2 games with the Indians, spending most of the season in the minors.
Carrera signed with the Detroit Tigers in January, 2014. He played in just 45 games with the Tigers in 2014, batting .261 with 18 hits. He spent the rest of the season back in the minor leagues. On December 13, 2014, he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.
As a minor league player from 2006 through part of 2014, Carrera played in 862 games. During that time, he had 942 hits, 303 RBIs, 273 stolen bases, and 598 strikeouts to 353 walks. Defensively, he played 584 games in center field, 162 games in left field, and 62 games in right field.
Carrera played in 91 games with the Blue Jays in 2015. He batted .273 with 47 hits. Defensively, he played 46 games in left field, 5 games in center field, and 35 games in right field. He had no hits in two at-bats in postseason play.
Carrera finished the 2016 season with 67 hits and a .248 batting average in 110 games. Defensively, he played 45 games in left field, 5 games in center field, and 65 games in right field. He made 132 putouts and 1 error. In the postseason, he batted .303 with 10 hits, including 2 triples and a home run, and 3 RBIs in 33 at-bats in 9 games.
Carrera had a strong 2017 season with career highs in games played (131), hits (81), and batting average (.282). Defensively, he played 91 games in left field, 10 games in center field, and 27 games in right field.
The Blue Jays released Carrera on March 11, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves a day later. He was released on May 17th. He rejoined his first team, the Mets, on a minor league contract on May 18th. He spent he 2018 season in the minor leagues.
Carrera became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on January 29, 2019. He played in the minors in 2019, until he was released on May 7th.
Carrera played only in the Venezuelan Winter League in 2020. He didn’t play professional baseball in 2021.
