Hernan Perez, infielder for the Minnesota Twins, was first signed by the Detroit Tigers in July, 2007. He played in the Tigers' minor league system from 2008 through 2014. He batted .262 with 749 hits, 133 doubles, 274 RBIs, 112 stolen bases, and 453 strikeouts to 162 walks in 735 games. Defensively, as a shortstop, he made 1,190 assists, 230 double plays, 601 putouts, and 94 errors with a .950 fielding percentage in 407 games. As a second baseman, he had a .975 fielding percentage with 843 assists, 191 double plays, 545 putouts, and 36 errors in 322 games.

Perez joined the Tigers for just two games in 2012. The following season, he played in 34 games and he batted .197 with 13 hits. In 2014, he played in only eight games with the Tigers.

On June 2, 2015, Perez was claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers. He finished the 2015 season with 64 hits, 15 doubles, and a .243 batting average in 22 games with the Tigers and 90 games with the Brewers. Defensively, he played at all four infield positions.

Perez finished the 2016 season with a .272 batting average in 123 games. He had 110 hits, 18 doubles, 13 home runs, 34 stolen bases, and 56 RBIs. Defensively, he played at all four infield positions and in all three outfield positions.

In 2017, Perez batted .259 in 136 games. He finished the season with 112 hits, 19 doubles, 14 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 51 RBIs, and 79 strikeouts to 20 walks. Defensively, he played every position except catcher. He even pitched 1.0 innings in 1 game.

Perez batted .253 with 80 hits in 132 games in 2018. Defensively, he played all infield and outfield positions. He pitched in three games. In the postseason, he had 14 hits, 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases, 2 RBIs, and a .214 batting average in 9 games.

Perez spent part of the 2019 season in the minors. He batted .228 with 53 hits in 91 games with the Brewers. Defensively, he played all infield and outfield positions except for center field. He also pitched in three games. He didn't play in the postseason.

Perez became a free agent on October 16, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs on December 19, 2019. He played in just 3 games with the Cubs in 2020.

Perez signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on February 3, 2021. He elected free agency on May 6th. The next day, he returned to the Brewers on a minor league contract. The Brewers released him on July 4th. He spent most of the 2021 season in the minors, plyaing in just 10 games with the Nationals. After the season ended, he played in the Venezuelan Winter League.

Perez signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on April 27, 2022.

Perez became a free agent on November 10, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Twins on March 16, 2023.
