Ivan De Jesus, infielder, is following in his father's footsteps. De Jesus, Sr. was a major league shortstop from 1974 through 1988. Since 1990, he has coached in the major leagues and he has been a manager in the minor leagues. De Jesus, Jr. was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005.

De Jesus played in the Dodgers' minor league system from 2005 through most of 2011. He joined the Dodgers for 17 games in 2011. After 23 games in 2012, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox on August 25th. He then played in 8 games with the Red Sox.

The Red Sox traded De Jesus to the Pittsburgh Pirates in December, 2012. A year later, he signed with the Baltimore Orioles. On August 30, 2014, he returned to the Red Sox in a trade with the Orioles. He spent all of the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the minor leagues.

As a minor league player from 2005 through 2014, De Jesus had 1,033 hits, 178 doubles, 422 RBIs, and 631 strikeouts to 387 walks in 947 games. Defensively, he played 533 games at shortstop and 357 games at second base.

On November 20, 2014, De Jesus signed with the Cincinnati Reds. He hit his first major league home run on June 8, 2015. He finished the 2015 season with 49 hits and a .244 batting average in 76 games. Defensively, he played at every infield position and in left field.

In 2016, De Jesus batted .253 with 56 hits in 104 games with the Reds. Defensively, he played 12 games at first base, 22 games at second base, 14 games at third base, 30 games at shortstop, and 1 game in left field.

De Jesus became a free agent on November 7, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 12, 2016. He spent the entire 2017 season in the minors.

De Jesus elected free agency on November 6, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox on January 16, 2018. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.

De Jesus became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins on July 11, 2019. He played in the minor leagues until he was released on August 28th. He also played in the independent Atlantic League, the Puerto Rican Winter League and the Caribbean Series in 2019.

DeJesus played only in the Puerto Rican Winter League in 2020 and 2021.
