Jace Peterson, infielder for the Oakland Athletics, was first drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2011. He played in the Padres' minor league system from 2011 through most of 2014. During that time, he batted .287 with 421 hits, 73 doubles, 187 RBIs, 148 stolen bases, and 233 strikeouts to 217 walks in 389 games. Defensively, as a shortstop, he made 813 assists, 161 double plays, 557 putouts, and 74 errors in 330 games.
On December 19, 2014, Peterson was traded to the Atlanta Braves in the deal that sent Justin Upton to the Padres. He hit his first major league home run, a grand slam, on May 16, 2015. He finished the season with a .239 batting average, 126 hits, 23 doubles, and 52 RBIs in 152 games.
Peterson batted .254 in 115 games in 2016. He finished the season with 89 hits, 16 doubles, and 29 RBIs. Defensively, as the Braves' second baseman in 87 games, he made 235 assists, 54 double plays, 150 putouts, and 11 errors.
In 2017, Peterson batted .215 in 89 games. Defensively, he played all four infield positions and two outfield positions.
Peterson elected free agency on December 1, 2017. He signed with the New York Yankees on April 16, 2018. The Baltimore Orioles claimed him off waivers on April 24th. He finished the 2018 season with 42 hits and a .200 batting average in 3 games with the Yankees and 93 games with the Orioles.
Peterson became a free agent on November 1, 2018. He rejoined the Orioles on a minor league contract on November 20, 2018. He spent most of the 2019 season in the minors, playing in just 29 games with the Orioles.
Peterson became a free agent on September 30, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 17th. He played in 26 games in 2020, and he batted .200.
Peterson spent time on the IL in 2021. He finished the season with 64 hits and a .247 batting average in 94 games.
