Jake Lamb, infielder for the Seattle Mariners, was first drafted in 2009 by the Pittsburgh Pirates but he opted instead to go to the University of Washington. Three years later, he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lamb played in the Diamondbacks' minor league system from 2012 through 2014. During that time, he batted .321 wih 295 hits, 83 doubles, 193 RBIs, and 229 strikeouts to 127 walks in 244 games. Defensively, at third base, he made 450 assists, 46 double plays, 135 putouts, and 32 errors in 225 games.

Lamb joined the Diamondbacks for 37 games in 2014. He had 29 hits during that time. In 2015, he played in 107 games and he batted .263 with 92 hits, 15 doubles, and 34 RBIs. Defensively, at third base, he made 203 assists, 14 double plays, 47 putouts, and 7 errors in 95 games.

In 2016, Lamb batted .249 in 151 games with the Diamondbacks. He finished the season with 130 hits, 31 doubles, 29 home runs, and 91 RBIs. Defensively, as the Diamondbacks' third baseman in 142 games, he made 251 assists, 13 double plays, 92 putouts, and 20 errors.

Lamb finished the 2017 season with 133 hits, 30 doubles, 30 home runs, 105 RBIs, 152 strikeouts to 87 walks, and a .248 batting average in 149 games. Defensively, as the Diamondbacks' third baseman in 144 games, he made 241 assists, 84 putouts, and 14 errors. In the postseason, he had 6 hits in 13 at-bats in 4 games.

Lamb spent time on the DL in 2018, limiting his playing time to 56 games. He batted .222 with 46 hits.

Lamb was again on the DL in 2019, this time with a left quad strain. He finished the season with 36 hits, 30 RBIs, 55 strikeouts to 32 walks, and a .193 batting average in 78 games. Defensively, he played 24 games at first base and 36 games at third base.

The Diamondbacks released Lamb on September 12, 2020. Two days later, he signed with the Oakland Athletics. He finished the 2020 season with 17 hits and a .193 batting average in 18 games with the Diamondbacks and 13 games with the Athletics.

Lamb became a free agent on October 28, 2020. He signed with the Atlanta Braves on February 23, 2021. He was released by the Braves on March 28th, and two days later, on March 30th, he signed with the Chicago White Sox. He was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays on September 3, 2021. He spent time on the IL in 2021 with a strained quadriceps. He finished the season with a .194 batting average in 43 games with the White Sox and 12 games with the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays released Lamb on September 29, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 18, 2022. He was traded to the Mariners on August 2nd.
