Jimmy Paredes, infielder, was first signed by the New York Yankees in July, 2006. He played in the Yankees' minor league system from 2007 through July, 2010, when he was traded to the Houston Astros. He continued playing in the Astros' minor league system through most of the 2013 season.

Prior to the 2011 season, Paredes signed a $414,000 contract with the Astros. He joined them for 46 games in 2011, batting .286 during that time. In 2012, he played in just 24 games with the Astros. The following season, he played in 48 games, primarily as a right fielder. In 2013, he batted just .192.

Paredes was acquired by the Miami Marlins in November, 2013. However, before he had a chance to play with the Marlins, they designated him for assignment on February 7, 2014. Eight days later, he was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles but he only stayed with them for two days. On February 17, 2014, he was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Royals.

Paredes played in nine games with the Royals in 2014 before they designated him for assignment on July 16th. The Orioles reacquired him on July 24, 2014.

Paredes was the Orioles DH in 2015. In 104 games, he batted .275 with 100 hits, 17 doubles, and 42 RBIs.

The Toronto Blue Jays claimed Paredes off waivers on May 16, 2016. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies on June 1st. He finished the 2016 season with 35 hits and a .222 batting average in 7 games with the Blue Jays and 76 games with the Phillies.

Paredes became a free agent on October 10, 2016. He played in Japan in 2017, in Korea in 2018, and in the independent Atlantic League in 2018 and 2019.

Paredes played in the Dominican Winter League in 2020. He played in the independent Atlantic League, the Mexican League and the Dominican Winter League in 2021.
