Joey Gallo, infielder for the Minnesota Twins, was a top player in high school before being drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2012. His high school record of 67 home runs was the most ever for a Nevada high school baseball player. In his senior year, he was named the Nevada Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. That year, he batted .509 with 21 home runs and 80 RBIs.

Gallo played in the minor leagues from 2012 through 2014. In 2013, he had the most home runs (40) of any minor league player. The following season, he had 42 home runs, 119 hits, 19 doubles, 106 RBIs, and a .271 batting average in 126 games. Defensively, he did not play well, making 19 errors and finishing the 2014 season with a .941 fielding percentage. From 2012 through 2014, he had 278 hits, 54 doubles, 104 home runs, 246 RBIs, and 429 strikeouts to 185 walks in 296 games. As a third baseman, he made 507 assists, 181 putouts, and 57 errors in 268 games.

Gallo was called up to the Rangers on June 2, 2015. He had three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs in his first major league game. He finished the 2015 season with 36 games with the Rangers and 87 games in the minors.

Gallo spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 17 games with the Rangers.

Gallo had his first full season in the major leagues in 2017, playing in 145 games with the Rangers. He had a strong first season, finishing with 94 hits, 18 doubles, 41 home runs, 80 RBIs, 196 strikeouts to 75 walks, and a .209 batting average. Defensively, he played 59 games at first base, 72 games at third base, and 18 games in left field.

Gallo finished the 2018 season with 103 hits, 24 doubles, 40 home runs, 92 RBIs, 207 strikeouts to 74 walks, and a .206 batting average in 148 games. Defensively, he played at first base and in left field, center field, and right field.

Gallo spent time on the DL in 2019 with a left oblique strain and with right wrist surgery. He finished the season with 61 hits, 15 doubles, 22 home runs, 49 RBIs, 114 strikeouts to 52 walks, and a .253 batting average in 70 games. Defensively, he played 34 games in left field and 38 games in center field and he made 142 putouts and 4 errors.

Gallo played in 57 games in 2020. He finished the season with 35 hits, 8 doubles, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs, 79 strikeouts to 29 walks, and a .181 batting average. He won his first Gold Glove in 2020 for his defense in 53 games in right field.

The Rangers traded Gallo to the New York Yankees on July 29, 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 99 hits, 38 home runs, 77 RBIs, 213 strikeouts to 111 walks, and a .199 batting average in 95 games with the Rangers and 58 games with the Yankees. Defensively, he has a good season, winning his second Gold Glove. As a right fielder in 92 games, he made 192 putouts and 4 errors. In the postseason, he had no hits in 4 at-bats in 1 game.

The Yankees traded Gallo to the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 2, 2022.

Gallo became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Twins on December 20th.
