Johnny Giavotella, retired infielder, was first drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2008. He played in the Royals' minor league system from 2008 through 2014. In 748 games in the minors, he batted .305 with 886 hits, 188 doubles, 393 RBIs, 93 stolen bases, and 347 strikeouts to 336 walks. As a second baseman, he made 1,658 assists, 412 double plays, 1,115 putouts, and 74 errors in 625 games.

Giavotella first joined the Royals in 2011, playing in 46 games with them. He had 44 hits during that time. In 2012, he played in 53 games and he had 43 hits. He spent most of the 2013 and 2014 seasons back in the minor leagues, playing in just 14 games with the Royals in 2013 and 12 games the following season.

On December 18, 2014, the Royals designated Giavotella for assignment. A day later, he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels. He had his first full season in the major leagues in 2015. He finished the season with a .272 batting average, 123 hits, 25 doubles, and 49 RBIs in 129 games. Defensively, as a second baseman, he made 307 assists, 64 double plays, 216 putouts, and 12 errors in 128 games and he had a .978 fielding percentage.

Giavotella finished the 2016 season with a .260 batting average in 99 games. He had 90 hits, 20 doubles, and 31 RBIs. Defensively, as the Angels' second baseman in 97 games, he made 186 assists, 54 double plays, 165 putouts, and 5 errors.

Giavotella became a free agent on October 10, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on February 2, 2017. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 7 games with the Orioles.

Giavotella elected free agency on October 2, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on May 11, 2018. After 24 games in the minors, he was released on June 22, 2018. He retired in August, 2018.
