Jonathan Herrera, infielder, was first signed by the Colorado Rockies in April, 2002. He played in the Rockies' minor league system from 2003 through 2009, joining the Rockies for 28 games in 2008.
Herrera split his time between the Rockies and the minors in 2010. He played in 76 games with the Rockies and he had 63 hits and a .284 batting average during that time. The following season with the Rockies, he had career highs in games played (104) and hits with 68. He batted .242 in 2011. In 2012 Herrera batted .262 with 59 hits in 86 games. He had better numbers in 2013, when he batted .292 with 57 hits in 81 games.
Herrera was traded to the Boston Red Sox in December, 2013. He had elbow surgery in 2014 and ended up playing in just 42 games with the Red Sox.
Herrera signed with the Cubs in December, 2014. He finished the 2015 season with 29 hits and a .230 batting average in 73 games with the Cubs. Defensively, he played 29 games at second base, 16 games at third base, and 1 game at shortstop.
Herrera played in the Mexican League in 2016 and 2017. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2017.
