Jorge Soler, outfielder for the Miami Marlins, defected from Cuba in 2011. The year prior to that, he played on the Cuban national team. He signed a nine-year, $30 million contract with the Chicago Cubs on June 11, 2012.

Soler played in the Cubs' minor league system from 2012 through 2014. During that time, he had 167 hits, 117 RBIs, and 105 strikeouts to 66 walks in 151 games. As a right fielder, the only position he played defensively, he made 223 putouts and 6 errors in 132 games.

In 2014, Soler joined the Cubs for 24 games. He batted .292 with 26 hits. He played in 101 games in 2015, finishing with 96 hits, 18 doubles, 47 RBIs, and a .262 batting average. As a right fielder in 95 games, he made 144 putouts and 1 error. He had a strong postseason, batting .474 with 9 hits, including 3 doubles and 3 home runs, and 5 RBIs in 19 at-bats in 7 games.

Soler finished the 2016 season with 54 hits and a .238 batting average in 86 games with the Cubs. Defensively, he played 53 games in left field and 7 games in right field. In the postseason, he had 2 hits in 13 at-bats in 8 games.

Soler was traded to the Kansas City Royals on December 7, 2016. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 35 games with the Royals.

Soler spent time on the DL in 2018 with a left toe fracture. In 61 games with the Royals, he batted .265 with 59 hits.

Soler finished the 2019 season with 156 hits, 33 doubles, 48 home runs, 117 RBIs, 78 strikeouts to 73 walks, and a .265 batting average in 162 games. He led the AL in home runs.

Soler played in 43 games in 2020. He finished the season with 34 hits, 8 doubles, 8 home runs, 24 RBIs, 60 strikeouts to 19 walks, and a .228 batting average. Defensively, he played 8 games in right field. He was the DH in 35 games.

The Royals traded Soler to the Atlanta Braves on July 30, 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 115 hits, 27 doubles, 27 home runs, 70 RBIs, 142 strikeouts to 67 walks, and a .223 batting average in 94 games with the Royals and 55 games with the Braves. Defensively, as a right fielder in 96 games, he made 141 putouts and 3 errors. In the postseason, he had 8 hits, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, and 6 RBIs in 33 at-bats in 11 games.

Soler became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed with the Marlins on March 22, 2022.
