Juan Centeno, catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks, was originally drafted by the New York Mets in June, 2007. He played in the Mets' minor league system from 2007 through 2014, joining the Mets for just 4 games in 2013 and 10 games in 2014.

As a minor leaguer, Centeno batted .277 with 352 hits, 125 RBIs, and 178 strikeouts to 93 walks in 390 games. Defensively, as a catcher, he made 269 assists, 2,436 putouts, and 32 errors. He caught players trying to steal an impressive 37% of the time and he had a .988 fielding percentage.

The Milwaukee Brewers claimed Centeno off waivers on October 31, 2014. He played in just 10 games with the Brewers in 2015.

Centeno signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins on November 30, 2015. He batted .261 in 55 games with the Twins in 2016.

Centeno became a free agent on November 23, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros on December 15, 2016. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 22 games with the Astros.

The Texas Rangers claimed Centeno off waivers on November 27, 2017. He spent most of the 2018 season in the minors, playing in just 10 games with the Rangers.

Centeno became a free agent on October 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox on November 13, 2018. He spent most of the 2019 season in the minors, playing in just 7 games with Boston.

Centeno played only in the Puerto Rican Winter League and in the Caribbean Series in 2020.



Centeno elected free agency on November 2, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on April 15, 2021. He played only in the minors (58 games) and in the Puerto Rican Winter League in 2021.

Centeno became a free agent on November 7, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks on February 3, 2022.
