Matt Moore, starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2007. He played in the Rays' minor league system from 2007 through 2011, joining the Rays for three games in 2011.

In December, 2011, Moore signed a five-year, $14 million contract with the Rays. He had his first full season in the major leagues in 2012, pitching 177.1 innings in 31 games. He finished the season with an 11-11 record and a 3.81 ERA. The following season was a much better one. In 2013, he had a 17-4 record and a 3.29 ERA in 150.1 innings in 27 games.

Moore missed most of the 2014 season due to Tommy John surgery. He pitched in just two games before the season ended for him. He started the 2015 season on the DL before pitching in 12 games with the Rays. He finished the season with a 3-4 record, 46 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a 5.43 ERA in 63.0 innings.

Moore was traded to the San Francisco Giants on August 1, 2016. Moore finished the 2016 season with 13 wins to 12 losses, 178 strikeouts to 72 walks, and a 4.08 ERA in 21 games with the Rays and 12 games with the Giants.

The Giants exercised their club option for Moore for 2017 on November 3, 2016. He finished the 2017 season with 6 wins and 15 losses, 148 strikeouts to 67 walks, and a 5.52 ERA in 32 games.

The Giants traded Moore to the Texas Rangers on December 15, 2017. He finished the 2018 season with 3 wins and 8 losses, 86 strikeouts to 41 walks, and a 6.79 ERA in 102.0 innings in 39 games.

Moore became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed with the Detroit Tigers on December 4, 2018. He had knee surgery in April, 2019, and he missed most of the season. He pitched just 10.0 innings in 2 games with the Tigers.

Moore became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He played in Japan in 2020.

Moore signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on February 3, 2021. He spent time on the IL in 2021 with low back issues. He finished the season with 2 wins and 4 losses, 63 strikeouts to 38 walks, and a 6.29 ERA in 73.0 innings in 24 games.

Moore became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on March 13, 2022.

Moore became a free agent again on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Angels on February 16, 2023.
