Matt Shoemaker, starting pitcher, was signed by the Los Angeles Angels in 2008. He pitched in the Angels' minor league system from 2008 through 2013, joining the team for just one game in 2013. In 134 games in the minors, he pitched 761.0 innings and he had a 49-40 record with 624 strikeouts to 192 walks.

In 2014, Shoemaker was both a starting pitcher and a relief pitcher with the Angels. He pitched 136.0 innings in 27 games and he had a 16-4 record and 3.04 ERA. He came in second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2014.

Shoemaker pitched in 25 games with the Angels in 2015. He finished the season with a 7-10 record, 116 strikeouts to 35 walks, and a 4.46 ERA in 135.1 innings.

He signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on August 7th. He finished the season with 3 wins and 8 losses, 40 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a 8.06 ERA in 60.1 innings in 16 games with the Twins. He played only in the minors with the Giants.

Shoemaker became a free agent on November 7, 2021.
