Matt Muncy, infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2009 but he opted for college instead. Three years later, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics.

Muncy played in the Athletics' minor league system from 2012 through part of 2015. During that time, he had 379 hits, 221 RBIs, 289 strikeouts to 242 walks, and a .271 batting average in 386 games. As a first baseman, he made 186 assists, 239 double plays, 2,544 putouts, and 21 errors in 303 games. He had a .992 fielding percentage.
