Nick Ahmed, infielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks, was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2011. After two years in the Braves' minor league system, he was traded to the Diamondbacks in January, 2013. He then continued in the minor leagues through most of 2014, joining the Diamondbacks for just 25 games in 2014.

Ahmed batted .269 in 429 games in the minors from 2011 through 2014. He had 443 hits, 96 doubles, 166 RBIs, 98 stolen bases, and 275 strikeouts to 149 walks. As a shortstop, he made 1,384 assists, 292 double plays, 618 putouts, and 56 errors in 410 games.

In 2015, his first full season in the major leagues, Ahmed batted .226 with 95 hits and 17 doubles in 134 games. As the Diamondbacks' shortstop, he made 368 assists, 84 double plays, 190 putouts, and 13 errors in 129 games. He had a .977 fielding percentage.

Ahmed spent time on the DL in 2016. In 90 games with the Diamondbacks, he batted .265 with 62 hits. As a shortstop in 88 games, he made 273 assists, 61 double plays, 111 putouts, and 10 errors.

He played in 148 games at shortstop and he made 432 assists, 98 double plays, 165 putouts, and 9 errors, and he had a .985 fielding percentage.

Ahmed finished the 2019 season with 141 hits, 33 doubles, 19 home runs, 82 RBIs, 113 strikeouts to 52 walks, and a .254 batting average in 158 games. He won a Gold Glove for his defense at shortstop. In 158 games, he made 412 assists, 79 double plays, 207 putouts, and 13 errors.

Ahmed played in 57 games in 2020. He finished the season with 53 hits, 10 doubles, 5 home runs, 29 RBIs, 46 strikeouts to 18 walks, and a .266 batting average. Defensively, he played all 57 games at shortstop.

Ahmed spent time on the IL in 2021. He finished the season with 96 hits, 30 doubles, 38 RBIs, 104 strikeouts to 34 walks, and a .221 batting average in 129 games. Defensively, as a shortstop in 127 games, he made 302 assists, 59 double plays, 170 putouts, and 9 errors.
