Odrisamer Despaigne, pitcher for the Miami Marlins, played professional baseball in Cuba from 2007 through 2013. He defected to Spain in 2013 and then moved to Mexico.

In May, 2014, Despaigne signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. He split his time in 2014 between the minor leagues and the Padres. As a minor leaguer, he pitched 31.1 innings in 7 games and he had a 1-3 record and a 6.03 ERA. He fared much better in the major leagues, winning four games and losing seven with a 3.36 ERA in 96.1 innings in 16 games with the Padres.

Despaigne pitched in 34 games with the Padres in 2015. He finished the season with a 5-9 record, 69 strikeouts to 32 walks, and a 5.80 ERA in 125.2 innings.

Despaigne was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on February 4, 2016. He was designated for assignment on September 5, 2016. Ten days later, the Marlins claimed him off waivers. He finished the 2016 season with a 5.93 ERA in 16 games with the Orioles and 3 games with the Marlins. He had no wins and 2 losses and 17 strikeouts to 16 walks in 30.1 innings.
