Preston Tucker, outfielder for the San Diego Padres, was a top player in college when he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2011. He opted to continue his college education instead of signing with the Rockies. A year later, he was drafted by the Houston Astros.

Tucker played in the Astros' minor league system from 2012 through 2014. He played in 315 games in the minors and he had 363 hits, 74 doubles, 57 home runs, 235 RBIs, and 227 strikeouts to 131 walks. As an outfielder, he made 423 putouts and just 4 errors in 257 games.

Tucker joined the Astros for 98 games in 2015. He batted .243 with 73 hits, 19 doubles, 13 home runs, and 33 RBIs. He had no hits in 2 at-bats in 3 postseason games.

In 2016, Tucker spent time in the minors and on the DL. He played in 48 games with the Astros and he batted .164. Defensively, he played 19 games in left field and 3 games in right field.

Tucker spent the 2017 season in the minors. He was traded to the Atlanta Braves on December 20, 2017. The Braves traded him to the Cincinnati Reds on July 31, 2018, and he was traded back to the Braves on September 2nd. He finished the 2018 season with 38 hits and a .229 batting average in 17 games with the Reds and 80 games with the Braves. Defensively, he played 37 games in left field and 4 games in right field.

Tucker became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 23, 2019. He was released on May 10, 2019. He played only in the minors in 2019.

Tucker played in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2020 and 2021.

Tucker signed a minor league contract with the Braves on April 9, 2022.

Tucker became a free agent on November 10, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Padres on December 9th.
