Rusney Castillo, outfielder, played in Cuba from 2008 through 2012. During that time, he had 352 hits, 61 doubles, 68 stolen bases, 192 RBIs, and 142 strikeouts to 86 walks in 323 games.

Castillo defected from Cuba in June, 2014. He signed a seven-year, $72.5 million contract with the Boston Red Sox on August 23, 2014. He joined the team for 10 games in 2014. In those 10 games, he had 12 hits, two of which were home runs.

Castillo played in 80 games with the Red Sox in 2015. He finished the season with 69 hits and a .253 batting average. Defensively, he played 24 games in left field, 6 games in center field, and 48 games in right field.

Castillo spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 9 games with the Red Sox. He spent the entire 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons in the minors.

Castillo played only in the Mexican Pacific Winter League in 2020.

Castillo elected free agency on October 28, 2020. He played in Japan and the Mexican Pacific Winter League in 2021.

Castillo signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on January 8, 2022. He was released on March 29, 2021.
