Sean O'Sullivan, relief pitcher, was first drafted in 2005 by the Los Angeles Angels. He pitched in the Angels' minor league system from 2006 through part of 2009.

O'Sullivan joined the Angels' starting rotation in 2009. That season, he pitched 51.2 innings in 12 games and he had a 4-2 record and a 5.92 ERA. After five games with the Angels the following season, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals. He then pitched in 14 games with the Royals, finishing the 2010 season with a 4-6 record and a 5.49 ERA.

In 2011, O'Sullivan pitched in 12 games with the Royals and he had a dismal 7.25 ERA and a 2-6 record. The next season, he was back in the minors full-time. The Royals traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays on June 21, 2012.

O'Sullivan signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres in December, 2012. He spent most of the 2013 season in the minors, pitching just 25.0 innings in 7 games with the Padres. In December, 2013, he signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched in only three games with the Phillies in 2014, spending the rest of the season in the minor leagues.

O'Sullivan pitched in 13 games with the Phillies in 2015. He finished the season with a 1-6 record, 35 strikeouts to 20 walks, and a 6.08 ERA in 71.0 innings. He was granted free agency on October 5, 2015.

O'Sullivan signed with the Boston Red Sox on December 5, 2015. He was designated for assignment on May 16, 2016, after pitching 21.1 innings in 5 games.

O'Sullivan became a free agent on October 11, 2016. He played in the minors in 2017.

Sullivan elected free agency on November 6, 2017. He played in the independent Atlantic League in 2018, until he was released on May 8th. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2018.
