Shane Greene, relief pitcher for the New York Yankees, had Tommy John surgery in 2008, while in college and prior to being drafted. The following year, he was drafted by the Yankees.

Greene pitched in the Yankees' minor league system from 2009 through part of 2014. In 120 games in the minors, he pitched 562.0 innings and he had a 29-43 record, 509 strikeouts to 222 walks, and a 4.39 ERA.

Greene was called up to the Yankees in 2014. In 15 games, he pitched 78.2 innings and he had a 5-4 record and a 3.78 ERA.

Greene was traded to the Detroit Tigers on December 5, 2014. His 2015 season ended in late August when he had shoulder surgery. He finished the season with a 4-8 record, 50 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a 6.88 ERA in 83.2 innings in 18 games.

In 2016, Greene had a 5.82 ERA in 3 games as a starter and 47 games in relief. He finished the season with 5 wins to 4 losses, 2 saves, and 59 strikeouts to 22 walks in 60.1 innings.

In the postseason, he pitched 2.2 innings in 2 games and he gave up 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 3 batters and walked 1, and he had a 3.38 ERA.

Greene pitched in 28 games in 2020. He finished the season with 1 win and no losses, 21 strikeouts to 9 walks, and a 2.60 ERA in 27.2 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 6.0 innings in 6 games, and he gave up 6 hits and 1 run.

Greene elected free agency on October 28, 2020. He signed again with the Braves on May 9, 2021. He was released on August 14th. He then signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 20th, and he was released a month later, on September 26th. He finished the 2021 season with no wins and 1 loss, 1 save, 24 strikeouts to 14 walks, and a 7.23 ERA in 19 games with the Braves and 9 games with the Dodgers. He didn't pitch in the postseason. After the season ended, he played in the Venezuelan Winter League.

Greene signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on March 16, 2022. He again elected free agency on May 22nd, and four days later, he signed a minor league contract with the Yankees.
