Shane Peterson, outfielder, was drafted in June, 2008 by the St. Louis Cardinals. After a year and a half in the Cardinals' minor league system, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics. He then continued in the minor leagues through 2014, joining the Athletics for just two games in 2013.
Peterson was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs on December 19, 2014. Four days later, the Milwaukee Brewers claimed him off waivers. He finished the 2015 season with 52 hits and a .259 batting average in 93 games with the Brewers. Defensively, he played 2 games at first base, 33 games in left field, 20 games in center field, and 9 games in right field.
Peterson spent the 2016 season on the DL and in the minors. He became a free agent on November 7, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays on December 22, 2016.
Peterson spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 30 games with the Rays.
Peterson became a free agent on October 3, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres on December 19, 2017. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.
