Vincent Velasquez, starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2010. He pitched in their minor league system in 2010 and from 2012 through 2014. He missed the entire 2011 season due to Tommy John surgery.

As a minor league pitcher from 2010 through 2014, Velasquez pitched 263.1 innings in 63 games. He had a 22-14 record and 309 strikeouts to 88 walks.

Velasquez pitched as a relief pitcher in 19 games with the Astros in 2015. He finished the season with a 4.37 ERA in 55.2 innings.
