Alen Hanson, infielder, was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2009. He played in the Pirates' minor league system from 2010 through 2015. In 609 games, he had 682 hits, 121 doubles, 169 stolen bases, 284 RBIs, 453 strikeouts to 208 walks, and a .284 batting average. Defensively, he played 184 games at second base, 28 games at third base, and 370 games at shortstop.

Hanson spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 27 games with the Pirates.

The Pirates designated Hanson for assignment on June 2, 2017. He was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox on June 9th. He finished the 2017 season with 48 hits and a .221 batting average in 37 games with the Pirates and 69 games with the White Sox. Defensively, he played 28 games at second base, 2 games at third base, 2 games at shortstop, 8 games in left field, 11 games in center field, and 20 games in right field.

Hanson elected free agency on December 1, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on January 25, 2018. He finished the 2018 season with 74 hits, 17 doubles, 39 RBIs, 71 strikeouts to 9 walks, and a .252 batting average in 110 games. Defensively, he palyed at second base, third base, and shortstop, and in left field and right field.

The Giants traded Hanson to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 2, 2019. He was released on August 3rd, after playing in just 18 games with the Blue Jays. He also played in 48 games in the minors.

Hanson signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners on January 24, 2020. He was released on June 25, 2020. He played only in the Dominican Winter League in 2020.

The Mariners again signed Hanson to a minor league contract on June 17, 2021. He played in 40 games in the minors in 2021. After the season ended, he played in the Dominican Winter League.

Hanson became a free agent on November 7, 2021.
