Brian Goodwin, outfielder, was first drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2009 but he opted instead to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Two years later, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals. He played in the Nationals' minor league system from 2012 through most of 2016.

In 22 games with the Nationals in 2016, he batted .286. He also played in 119 games in the minors.

Goodwin played in 74 games with the Nationals in 2017. He finished the season with 63 hits, 21 doubles, 13 home runs, 30 RBIs, 69 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a .251 batting average. Defensively, he played 31 games in left field, 34 games in center field, and 11 games in right field.

The Nationals traded Goodwin to the Kansas City Royals on July 22, 2018. He spent time on the DL in 2018 with a left groin strain. In 48 games with the Nationals and 27 games with the Royals, he batted .239. Defensively, he played 12 games in left field, 32 games in center field, and 10 games in right field.

The Royals released Goodwin on March 25, 2019. He was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels on March 27th. He spent time on the DL in 2019 with a right wrist contusion. He finished the season with 108 hits, 29 doubles, 17 home runs, 47 RBIs, 129 strikeouts to 38 walks, and a .262 batting average in 136 games. Defensively, he played 68 games in left field, 39 games in center field, and 17 games in right field and he made 207 putouts and 5 errors.

The Angels traded Goodwin to the Cincinnati Reds on August 31, 2020. He finished the season with 31 hits, 9 doubles, 6 home runs, 22 RBIs, 54 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a .215 batting average in 30 games with the Angels and 20 games with the Reds. Defensively, he played 16 games in left field, 20 games in center field, and 12 games in right field.

Goodwin became a free agent on December 2, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on February 11, 2021. The Pirates released him on May 3rd, and two days later, he signed a minor league contract with the White Sox. He finished the 2021 season with 52 hits, 29 RBIs, 58 strikeouts to 33 walks, and a .221 batting average in 72 games with the White Sox. He didn't play with the Pirates.

Goodwin became a free agent on November 5, 2021. He signed with a Mexican League team on May 4, 2022, and he was released a month later, on June 14th.
