Daniel Norris, pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, was first drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011. He played in the Blue Jays' minor league system from 2012 through most of 2014 and half of 2015. In 79 games, he had a 19-23 record, 384 strikeouts to 148 walks, and a 4.08 ERA in 348.1 innings.

Norris joined the Blue Jays' for five games in 2014. He pitched from the starting rotation in one game and from the bullpen in four games and he had a 5.40 ERA in 6.2 innings.

Norris was traded to the Detroit Tigers on July 30, 2015, in the trade that sent David Price to the Blue Jays. In 2015, he had a 3-2 record and a 3.75 ERA in 5 games with the Blue Jays and 8 games with the Tigers. On August 19th, he hit his first major league home run in his first at-bat as a major league player.

Norris started the 2016 season on the DL with lower back problems. He finished the season with a 3.38 ERA, 4 wins and 2 losses, and 71 strikeouts to 22 walks in 69.1 innings in 14 games.

Norris finished the 2017 season with 5 wins and 8 losses, 86 strikeouts to 44 walks, and a 5.31 ERA in 101.2 innings in 22 games.

Norris spent time on the DL in 2018 with a left groin strain. In 11 games with the Tigers, he had no wins and 5 losses, 51 strikeouts to 19 walks, and a 5.68 ERA in 44.1 innings.

Norris finished the 2019 season with 3 wins and 13 losses, 125 strikeouts to 38 walks, and a 4.49 ERA in 144.1 innings in 32 games.

Norris pitched in 14 games in 2020. He finished the season with 3 wins and 1 loss, 28 strikeouts to 7 walks, and a 3.25 ERA in 27.2 innings.

The Tigers traded Norris to the Milwaukee Brewers on July 30, 2021. He finished the season with 2 wins and 3 losses, 1 save, 58 strikeouts to 30 walks, and a 6.16 ERA in 57.0 innings in 38 games with the Tigers and 18 games with the Brewers. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Norris became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed with the Chicago Cubs on March 19, 2022, and he was released on July 22nd. He rejoined the Tigers on a minor league contract on July 26th.

Norris elected free agency on November 6, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on February 15, 2023, and he was released on March 20th. He signed a minor league contract with the Guardians on March 24th.
