Eric Surkamp, starting pitcher, was first drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2008. He played in the Giants minor league system from 2008 through most of 2011.

Surkamp joined the Giants for six games in 2011. He had a 2-2 win-loss record and a 5.74 ERA in 26.2 innings. He had problems with control, giving up 17 walks while striking out just 13 batters. The following season, he didn't play at all, starting the season on the DL and then having Tommy John surgery in July, 2012. He played in just one game with the Giants in 2013 and 16 games in the minors, spending the rest of the season on the DL, recovering from his surgery.

The Giants designated Surkamp for assignment on December 19, 2013. Four days later, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox. He was a relief pitcher for the White Sox in 2014, pitching 24.1 innings in 35 games. He finished the season with a 4.81 ERA.

Surkamp was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 23, 2015. He pitched in just one game with the Dodgers.

Surkamp signed with the Oakland Athletics on December 4, 2015. After 9 games with the Athletics in 2016, they designated him for assignment on June 27th. Two days later, the Texas Rangers claimed him off waivers but he stayed with them for just over a week. The Rangers released him on July 7, 2016. In 9 games with the Athletics in 2016, he had a 6.98 ERA in 38.2 innings.

Surkamp hasn't played professional baseball since 2016.
