Greg Garcia, infielder, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010. He played in the Cardinals' minor league system from 2010 through part of 2015. In 607 games, he batted .282 with 584 hits, 112 doubles, 213 RBIs, and 409 strikeouts to 285 walks. Defensively, he played 245 games at second base, 21 games at third base, and 318 games at shortstop.

Garcia joined the Cardinals for 14 games in 2014. He played in 49 games in 2015 and he had 18 hits, including 5 doubles and 2 home runs. His first major league home run was on June 26, 2015.

In 2016, Garcia batted .276 in 99 games with the Cardinals. He finished the season with 59 hits. Defensively, he played 26 games at second base, 31 games at third base, and 30 games at shortstop.

Garcia had his first full season in the majors in 2017. He finished the season with 61 hits and a .253 batting average in 133 games. Defensively, he played 34 games at second base, 41 games at third base, and 12 games at shortstop.

Garcia became a free agent on December 2, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on February 10, 2021. The Tigers released him on March 26th. He signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on April 23rd, and he was released on May 3rd. He didn't play at all in 2021.

Personal Life

Greg's grandfather, Dave Garcia, was a major league coach for five teams, starting in 1970. He managed the Los Angeles/California Angels in 1977 and 1978 and the Cleveland Indians from 1979 through 1982.
