Joey Wendle, infielder for the Tampa Bay Rays, was first drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2012. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics on December 8, 2014.

Wendle played in the minor leagues from 2012 through most of 2016. He batted .288 with 601 hits, 141 doubles, 273 RBIs, and 390 strikeouts to 137 walks in 523 games. Defensively, as a second baseman, he made 1,378 assists, 315 double plays, 949 putouts, and 49 errors in 476 games.

Wendle spent most of the 2016 season in the minors. He played in 28 games with the Athletics.

Wendle played in just eight games with the Athletics in 2017. He spent the rest of the season in the minors.
