Josh Bell, infielder for the Cleveland Guardians, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011. He played in the Pirates minor league system from 2012 through 2016. His playing time was limited to just 15 games in 2012 due to a knee injury. As a minor leaguer in 487 games, he batted .303 with 562 hits, 111 doubles, 285 RBIs, and 305 strikeouts to 209 walks. Defensively, he played 212 games at first base and 183 games in right field.

In 2016, Bell joined the Pirates for 45 games. He had batted .273 with 35 hits. He also played in 114 games in the minors.

The Nationals traded Bell to the San Diego Padres on August 2, 2022.
