Luke Maile, catcher for the Cincinnati Reds, was a top player in high school. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2009 but he opted instead to attend the University of Kentucky. He was a top player at Kentucky when the Tampa Bay Rays drafted him in 2012. He played in the Ray's minor league system from 2012 through most of 2015.

Maile joined the Rays for 15 games in 2015. He had 6 hits, including 3 doubles. In 2016, he played in 42 games with the Rays. He finished the season with 27 hits and a .227 batting average. Defensively, he played 4 games at first base and 37 games as the Rays' catcher.

The Rays designated Maile for assignment on April 2, 2017. The Toronto Blue Jays claimed him off waivers on April 6th. He finished the 2017 season with a .146 batting average in 46 games with the Blue Jays.

Maile played in 68 games in 2018. He had 50 hits, 13 doubles, 27 RBIs, 67 strikeouts to 25 walks, and a .248 batting average. Defensively, as a catcher in 66 games, he made 43 assists, 485 putouts, and 6 errors. He caught players trying to steal 30.2% of the time and he had a .989 fielding percentage.

Maile spent time on the DL in 2019 with a left oblique strain. He batted just .151 in 44 games with the Blue Jays.

Maile became a free agent on December 2, 2019. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates on December 16th. He spent the 2020 season on the IL with a right finger fracture.

Maile elected free agency on November 1, 2020. He signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 8th. He played in just 15 games with the Brewers in 2021. In the postseason, he had no hits in 2 at-bats in 2 games.

Maile became a free agent on November 4, 2021. He signed with the Cleveland Guardians on March 14, 2022.

Maile became a free agent on November 18, 2022. He signed with the Reds on November 28th.
