Marco Hernandez, infielder, was first signed by the Chicago Cubs in 2009. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2014. He played in the minor leagues from 2010 through 2015. In 577 games, he batted .280 with 619 hits, 111 doubles, 89 stolen bases, 255 RBIs, and 382 strikeouts to 119 walks. Defensively, as a shortstop, he made 1,480 assists, 264 double plays, 724 putouts, and 132 errors in 503 games.

Hernandez played in 40 games with the Red Sox in 2016. He batted .294 with 15 hits. Defensively, he played 14 games at second base, 10 games at third base, and 2 games at shortstop.

Hernandez spent much of the 2017 season on the DL, playing in just 21 games with Boston. He spent the entire 2018 season on the DL.

Hernandez finished the 2019 season with 37 hits and a .250 batting average in 61 games. Defensively, he played 48 games at second base and 2 games at shortstop. He also played in 56 games in the minors.

The Red Sox released Hernandez on August 30, 2020. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.

Hernandez signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 12, 2021. He played only in the minors in 2021.

Hernandez became a free agent on November 7, 2021.
