Martin Perez, starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers, was signed by the Rangers in 2007. He played in the Rangers' minor league system from 2008 through part of 2012.

Perez first joined the Rangers for 12 games in 2012. He had a 1-4 record and a 5.45 ERA in 38.0 innings. He fared better in 2013 when he had a 10-6 record and a 3.62 ERA in 124.1 innings in 20 games.

In November, 2013, Perez signed a four-year, $12.5 million contract with the Rangers. The contract included an additional three years of club options.

After just eight games in 2014, Perez had Tommy John surgery. He started the 2015 season on the DL, recovering from the surgery. He finished the season with a 3-6 record and a 4.46 ERA in 78.2 innings in 14 games.

Perez elected free agency on November 1, 2020. He re-signed with Boston on February 12, 2021.
