Matt Boyd, pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, was first drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2012 but he didn't sign with them. A year later, he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays. He was traded to the Tigers on July 30, 2015, in the deal that sent David Price to the Blue Jays.

Boyd pitched in the minor leagues from 2013 through part of 2015. In 53 games, he pitched 272.0 innings and he had a 15-12 record, 278 strikeouts to 64 walks, and a 2.48 ERA.

In 2015, Boyd pitched in 2 games with the Blue Jays and 11 games with the Tigers. He had a 7.53 ERA in 57.1 innings.
