Matt Tuiasosopo, retired outfielder, was first drafted in 2004 by the Seattle Mariners. He played in the Mariners' minor league system from 2004 through most of 2009, joining the Mariners for 14 games in 2008 and 7 games in 2009. He hit his first major league home run on September 27, 2009.
Tuiasosopo played in 50 games with the Mariners in 2010. He batted just .173 with 22 hits and 49 strikeouts to 9 walks. He also played in 38 games in the minors that season. The following year, he played only in the minors.
Tuiasosopo signed with the New York Mets in January, 2012. He played in 131 games in the minors in 2012.
In November, 2012, Tuiasosopo signed with the Detroit Tigers. He played in a career high 81 games with the Tigers in 2013. He finished the season with 40 hits, 30 RBIs, 57 strikeouts to 25 walks, and a .244 batting average.
Tuiasosopo was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks in November, 2013. He lasted only a short time with the Diamondbacks, being claimed off waivers on March 20, 2014, by the Toronto Blue Jays. After three months in the Blue Jays' minor league system, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox on June 12, 2014. He finished the 2014 season in the minor leagues.
In December, 2014, Tuiasosopo signed with his seventh team, the Baltimore Orioles. After Spring training 2015, he was released on April 1st. Two days later, he returned to the Chicago White Sox, spending the 2015 season in the minors.
Tuiasosopo signed with the Atlanta Braves on November 10, 2015. He spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 3 games with the Braves. He became a free agent on October 3, 2016, and he signed a new, minor league contract with the Braves on October 20th. He spent the entire 2017 season in the minors.
Tuiasosopo became a free agent on November 6, 2017. He didn't play professional baseball in 2018. He retired in January, 2019.
