Mychal Givens, relief pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, was drafted by the Orioles in 2009 as an infielder. He was converted to a pitcher in 2013, after playing primarily as a shortstop in the Orioles' minor league system from 2010 through 2012. He then pitched in the minors from 2013 through part of 2015. As a pitcher in 99 games, he had a 7-7 record, 21 saves, 170 strikeouts to 74 walks, and a 3.06 ERA in 158.2 innings.

Givens pitched in 22 games with the Orioles in 2015. In 30.0 innings, he gave up 20 hits and 6 earned runs. He had a 1.80 ERA and he struck out 38 batters while walking just six. He also pitched in 35 games in the minors in 2015.
