Shawn O'Malley, retired infielder, was first drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006. In December, 2013, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels. He signed with the Seattle Mariners on January 22, 2015.
O'Malley played in the minor leagues from 2006 through most of 2015. In 813 games, he batted .262 with 745 hits, 206 stolen bases, 247 RBIs, and 567 strikeouts to 321 walks. Defensively, he played 216 games at second base, 14 games at third base, and 473 games at shortstop. He made 1,782 assists, 357 double plays, 1,097 putouts, and 103 errors.
O'Malley joined the Angels for 11 games in 2014. In 2015, he played in 24 games with the Mariners.
O'Malley finished the 2016 season with 48 hits and a .229 batting average in 89 games with the Mariners. Defensively, he played 12 games at second base, 7 games at third base, 36 games at shortstop, 15 games in left field, 5 games in center field, and 19 games in right field.
O'Malley played only in the minors in 2017.
O'Malley signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies on December 15, 2017. He spent the 2018 season on the DL and in the minors.
O'Malley became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He didn't play professional baseball in 2019, and he retired after the season ended.
