Steven Okert, relief pitcher for the Miami Marlins, was first drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers, first in 2010 and again in 2011. However, he chose to participate in college baseball instead of signing with the Brewers. In 2012, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He pitched in the Giants' minor league system from 2012 through part of 2016.

Okert pitched in 16 games with the Giants in 2016. He had a 3.21 ERA in 14.0 innings.

Okert finished the 2017 season with 1 win and 1 loss, 22 strikeouts to 11 walks, and a 5.67 ERA in 27.0 innings in 44 games.

Okert spent most of the 2018 season in the minors, pitching in just 10 games with the Giants. He spent the entire 2019 season in the minors.

Okert became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.

Okert signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on February 26, 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 3 wins and 1 loss, 40 strikeouts to 15 walks, and a 2.75 ERA in 36.0 innings in 34 games.
