Steven Wright, starting pitcher, was first drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2003 but he didn't sign with them. Three years later, he signed with the Cleveland Indians. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox on July 31, 2012. He played in the minor leagues from 2007 through part of 2015, joining the Red Sox for 4 games in 2013 and 6 games in 2014.

Wright pitched in 16 games for the Red Sox in 2015. He finished with a 5-4 record, 52 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a 4.09 ERA in 72.2 innings.

Wright finished the 2016 season with a 3.33 ERA in 24 games. He had 13 wins to 6 losses and 127 strikeouts to 57 walks in 156.2 innings. He pitched four complete games during the regular season. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Wright spent much of the 2017 season on the DL, pitching just 24.0 innings in 5 games with the Red Sox. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Wright spent time on the DL again in 2018. He finished the season with 3 wins and 1 loss, 42 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 2.68 ERA in 53.2 innings in 20 games. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Wright received an 80-game suspension on March 6, 2019, for PED violations. The Red Sox released him on October 18, 2019. He pitched just 6.1 innings in 6 games in 2019.

Wright didn't play professional baseball in 2020.

Wright signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 21, 2021. He was released on August 19th. He played only in the minors in 2021.
