Taylor Motter, outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011. He played in the Rays' minor league system from 2011 through 2015. He batted .281 with 458 hits, 108 doubles, 108 stolen bases, 217 RBIs, and 286 strikeouts to 199 walks in 465 games. Defensively, he played 44 games at second base, 86 games at third base, 52 games at shortstop, 74 games in left field, 29 games in center field, and 160 games in right field.

Motter joined the Rays for 34 games in 2016. He batted .188 with 15 hits.

Motter was traded to the Seattle Mariners on November 18, 2016. He played in 92 games with the Mariners in 2017. He finished the season with 51 hits, 12 doubles, 26 RBIs, 62 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a .198 batting average. Defensively, he played all infield positions and in left field and right field.

The Minnesota Twins claimed Motter off waivers on May 28, 2018. He was released by the Twins on August 22nd. He played in 7 games with the Mariners, 9 games with the Twins, and 16 games in the minors in 2018.

Motter signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on March 12, 2019. He was released on May 14th. He signed with an independent league team on May 21st, and on June 25th, the Oakland Athletics purchased his contract. He played only in the minors in 2019.

Motter became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He played in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2020.

Motter signed with the Colorado Rockies on March 3, 2021. He was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox on September 2, 2021. He spent most of the 2021 season in the minors, playing in just 13 games with the Rockies and 3 games with the Red Sox.

Motter became a free agent on October 4, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on April 22, 2022. He was released on July 18th. He signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on July 29th.

Motter became a free agent on November 10, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Cardinals on November 18th.
