Tim Melville, pitcher, was a top baseball player in high school. In 2007, his junior year, he pitched a perfect game. That year, he was named the Aflac National Player of the Year for having a 10-1 win-loss record and an ERA of 0.89.

Melville was first drafted in 2008 by the Kansas City Royals. He stayed with the Royals through the 2014 season and then signed with the Detroit Tigers in November, 2014. He pitched in the minor leagues from 2009 through 2015. In 141 games, he pitched 668.2 innings and he had a 31-54 record, 542 strikeouts to 311 walks, and a 4.75 ERA.

Melville signed with the Cincinnati Reds on November 25, 2015. He pitched 9.0 innings in 3 games with the Reds in 2016.

Melville became a free agent on November 7, 2016. He signed with the Minnesota Twins on June 12, 2017. He was designated for assignment on August 23rd. Three days later, he was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 1 game with the Twins and 2 games with the Padres. He had an 11.12 ERA in 5.2 innings.

Melville elected free agency on November 6, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on December 22, 2017. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.

The Colorado Rockies acquired Melville on May 3, 2019. He finished the 2019 season with 2 wins and 3 losses, 24 strikeouts to 14 walks, and a 4.86 ERA in 33.1 innings in 7 games. He also pitched 96.1 innings in 18 games in the minors.

Melville was released on May 18, 2020. He played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2020 and 2021.
