Trayce Thompson, outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was first drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2009. He played in Chicago's minor league system from 2009 through most of 2015. In 734 games, he batted .241 with 665 hits, 163 doubles, 101 home runs, 94 stolen bases, 395 RBIs, and 817 strikeouts to 291 walks. Defensively, as a center fielder, he made 1,324 putouts and 31 errors in 577 games.

Thompson joined the White Sox for 44 games in 2015. He hit his first major league home run on August 11th. He batted .295 with 36 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 5 home runs. Defensively, he played 12 games in left field, 10 games in center field, and 18 games in right field.

Thompson was traded to the Dodgers on December 16, 2015. He finished the 2016 season with 53 hits, 32 RBIs, and a .225 batting average in 80 games with the Dodgers. Defensively, he played 24 games in left field, 32 games in center field, and 28 games in right field. He didn't play in the postseason.

Thompson spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 27 games with the Dodgers.

The New York Yankees claimed Thompson off waivers on April 3, 2018. Two days later, the Oakland Athletics claimed him off waivers. He returned to his first team, the White Sox, in a trade on April 19th. He split his time in 2018 between the minor leagues and the majors. In 3 games with the Athletics and 48 games with the White Sox, he batted just .117. He also played in 46 games in the minors.

Thompson became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians on December 1, 2018. He was released on August 2, 2019. He spent the season only in the minors.

Thompson signed a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks on February 3, 2020. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.

The Diamondbacks traded Thompson to the Cubs on May 11, 2021. He spent most of the 2021 season in the minors, playing in just 15 games with the Cubs.

Thompson became a free agent on November 5, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres on March 13, 2022. He elected free agency two months later, on May 14th. He signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on May 19th. He was traded to the Dodgers on June 20th.
