Tyler Collins, outfielder, was a top player at Howard College, batting .488 in 2011. That year, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers. He played in the Tigers' minor league system from 2011 through most of 2014 and half of 2015. In 472 games, he batted .267 with 471 hits, 102 doubles, 259 RBIs, and 359 strikeouts to 192 walks. Defensively, as a left fielder, he made 530 putouts and 19 errors in 314 games.
Collins played in 18 games with the Tigers in 2014. He hit his first major league home run on September 1st. In 2015, he played in 60 games. He finished with a .266 batting average, 51 hits, 11 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, and 25 RBIs. Defensively, he played 37 games in left field and 7 games in right field.
