Adalberto Mejia, relief pitcher, was first signed by the San Francisco Giants on February 1, 2011. He pitched in the Giants' minor league system from 2011 through 2015. He was both a starting pitcher and a relief pitcher in 2012 and 2015 and just a starting pitcher the other seasons. In 2015, he received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.
The Giants traded Mejia to the Minnesota Twins on July 28, 2016. He spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, pitching just 2.1 innings in 1 game with the Twins.
Mejia pitched in 21 games with the Twins in 2017. He finished the season with 4 wins and 7 losses, 85 strikeouts to 44 walks, and a 4.50 ERA in 98.0 innings. He didn't pitch in the Wild Card game.
Mejia spent time on the DL and in the minors in 2018, pitching just 22.1 innings in 5 games with the Twins. He had 2 wins and no losses and a 2.01 ERA.
The Los Angeles Angels claimed Mejia off waivers on July 20, 2019. The St. Louis Cardinals claimed him off waivers on July 30th. The Angels claimed him again off waivers on August 8th. He finished the 2019 season with no wins and 2 losses, 30 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a 6.61 ERA in 13 games with the Twins, 2 games with the Cardinals, and 20 games with the Angels. He spent time on the DL in 2019 with a calf strain.
The Angels released Mejia on January 10, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on January 21st. He was released on August 24th. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.
Mejia played in China and in the Dominican Winter League in 2021.
