Andrew Knapp, catcher for the San Francisco Giants, was first drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2010 but he opted to attend the University of California instead. Three years later, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played in the Phillies' minor league system from 2013 through 2016.

Knapp played in 56 games with the Phillies in 2017. He had 44 hits and a .257 batting average.

Knapp finished the 2018 season with 37 hits and a .198 batting average in 84 games with the Phillies. As a catcher in 53 games, he made 21 assists, 404 putouts, and 8 errors. He caught players trying to steal 17.9% of the time and he had a .982 fielding percentage.

Knapp played in 74 games in 2019, and he had 29 hits and a .213 batting average.

Knapp played in 33 games in 2020. He finished the season with 20 hits, 15 RBIs, and a .278 batting average. Defensively, he was the Phillies' catcher in 29 games.

Knapp spent time on the IL, the bereavement list, and the paternity list in 2021. He finished the season with a .152 batting average in 62 games.

Knapp became a free agent on November 5, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on December 1st. He was released by the Reds on April 3, 2022. Three days later, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was designated for assignment on May 16th, and two days later, he elected free agency. He signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners on May 21st. Two months later, on July 13th, he again elected free agency. He signed a minor league contract with the Giants on July 22nd.
