Brian Flynn, relief pitcher, was first drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2008 but he opted instead to attend Wichita State University. Three years later, he was drafted by and signed with the Detroit Tigers. He pitched in the Tigers' minor league system in 2011 as a starting pitcher.
The Tigers traded Flynn to the Miami Marlins on July 23, 2012. He spent the 2012 season as a starting pitcher in the minors.
Flynn spent most of the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the minors. He pitched in 4 games as a starting pitcher with the Marlins in 2013 and he finished with an 8.50 ERA in 18.0 innings. The next year, he pitched in just 2 games with Miami.
Flynn was traded to the Kansas City Royals on November 28, 2014. He spent almost the entire 2015 season on the DL, pitching in just one game in the minors.
Flynn pitched in 36 games with the Royals in 2016. He finished the season with 1 win and 2 losses, 44 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a 2.60 ERA in 55.1 innings.
Flynn spent most of the 2017 season on the DL and in the minors, pitching just 2.1 innings in 1 game with the Royals.
Flynn pitched in 48 games in 2018. He finished the season with 3 wins and 5 losses, 1 save, 47 strikeouts to 35 walks, and a 4.04 ERA in 75.2 innings.
Flynn spent time on the DL in 2019 with a left UCL sprain. He finished the season with 2 wins and 2 losses, 22 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a 5.22 ERA in 29.1 innings in 11 games. He also played in 11 games in the minors.
Flynn became a free agent on September 30, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers on December 16th.
Flynn elected free agency on July 14, 2020. He played in the Australian Baseball League in 2020.
Flynn didn't play professional baseball in 2021.
