Bruce Maxwell, catcher, was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2012. He played in their minor league system from 2012 through 2015.

In 2016, Maxwell joined the Athletics for 33 games. During that time, he had 26 hits, 24 strikeouts to 8 walks, and a .283 batting average. Defensively, as a catcher in 29 games, he made 9 assists, 178 putouts, and 1 error. He also played in 60 games in the minors in 2016.

Maxwell finished the 2017 season with 52 hits and a .237 batting average in 76 games with the Athletics. Defensively, as a catcher in 74 games, he made 31 assists, 454 putouts, and no errors. He caught players trying to steal 27.9% of the time.

Maxwell spent most of the 2018 season in the minors, playing in just 18 games with the Athletics.

Maxwell became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He spent the 2019 season in the Mexican League.

Maxwell signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets on July 30, 2020. He played only in the Dominican Winter League in 2020.

The Mets traded Maxwell to the San Francisco Giants on June 5, 2021. He spent the 2021 season on the IL and in the minors.

Maxwell became a free agent on November 7, 2021.
