Buddy Baumann, relief pitcher, was first drafted in 2009 by the Kansas City Royals. He pitched in the Royals' minor league system from 2009 through 2015. He was a relief pitcher only in 2009, 2012, and 2013, and both a starter and a reliever during the other seasons.
Baumann became a free agent on November 6, 2015. The following month, on December 21, 2015, he signed with the San Diego Padres. He pitched in 11 games with the Padres in 2016, finishing with a 3.72 ERA in 9.2 innings. He spent the rest of the season in the minors.
Baumann pitched in just 23 games with the Padres in 2017. He finished the season with a 2.55 ERA in 17.2 innings.
The New York Mets claimed Baumann off waivers on April 27, 2018. He spent most of the 2018 season on the DL and in the minors, pitching in just 1 game with the Padres and 3 games with the Mets.
Baumann became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He played in the independent Atlantic League in 2019. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020 and 2021.
Baumann signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on March 7, 2022. He was released on April 6th.
