Carl Edwards, Jr., relief pitcher for the Washington Nationals, was first drafted in 2011 by the Texas Rangers. He pitched in the Rangers' minor league system in 2012. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs on July 22, 2013. He continued to pitch in the minors, finishing the 2013 season with a 1.96 ERA. He was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year that season.

Edwards pitched 4.2 innings in 5 games with the Cubs in 2016. He spent the rest of the season in the minors.

In 2016, Edwards pitched in 36 games with the Cubs. He finished the season with no wins and 1 loss, 2 saves, and 52 strikeouts to 14 walks in 36.0 innings.
