Chase De Jong, relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was first drafted in 2012 by the Toronto Blue Jays. He pitched in the Blue Jays' minor league system from 2012 until July 2, 2015, when they traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He then continued in the Dodgers' minor league system through 2016.

De Jong was traded to the Seattle Mariners on March 1, 2017. He made his first major league appearance on April 5, 2017. It was not a good outing for him - in 0.2 innings of relief, he gave up a three-run home run to give the Houston Astros a win in the thirteenth inning.

De Jong spent most of the 2017 season in the minors. He pitched in 7 games with the Mariners and he had a 6.35 ERA in 28.1 innings.

The Mariners traded De Jong to the Minnesota Twins on July 30, 2018. He pitched just 17.2 innings in 4 games with the Twins and he had a 3.57 ERA. He also pitched 160.0 innings in 28 games in the minors in 2018.

De Jong spent most of the 2019 season on the DL and in the minors. He played in just one game with the Twins before being released on July 12th.

De Jong signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros on August 6, 2020. He pitched just 7.1 innings in 3 games in 2020, and he had an ERA of 14.73.

De Jong became a free agent on October 30, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on January 5, 2021. He spent time on the IL in 2021. He finished the season with 1 win and 4 losses, 39 strikeouts to 19 walks, and a 5.77 ERA in 43.2 innings in 9 games.
