Christian Friedrich, starting pitcher, was first drafted in 2008 by the Colorado Rockies. He pitched in the Rockies' minor league system from 2008 through 2011.

Friedrich pitched in 16 games as a starting pitcher with the Rockies in 2012. He finished with a 6.17 ERA, 5 wins to 8 losses, and 74 strikeouts to 30 walks in 84.2 innings. He spent time that season on the DL with a lower back stress fracture. He missed most of the 2013 season with back inflammation. He played in just 4 games in the minors in 2013.

Friedrich was moved to the bullpen in 2014. He pitched in 3 games as a starter and 13 games in relief with the Rockies and he had a 5.92 ERA. He also pitched in 27 games in the minors. In 2015, he was just a relief pitcher for the Rockies, pitching 58.1 innings in 68 games. He finished with a 5.25 ERA and 45 strikeouts to 25 walks.

The Rockies designated Friedrich for assignment on January 28, 2016, and they released him on February 19th. The San Diego Padres signed him to a minor league contract on March 3rd. He was a starting pitcher again in 2016, pitching in 23 games as a starter and 1 game in relief with the Padres. He finished the season with 5 wins to 12 losses, 100 strikeouts to 52 walks, and a 4.80 ERA in 129.1 innings.

Friedrich spent the 2017 season on the DL and in the minors. He was released by the Padres on October 30, 2017. He didn't play professional baseball in 2018. He played in the Korean Baseball Organization and in the independent Atlantic League in 2019.

Friedrich signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 25, 2020. He was released on June 13th. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.

Friedrich played in the independent Atlantic League and in the American Association in 2021.
